Fact Check: First Lady Kim Gun Hee Is NOT Missing 'After Two Months Of Disappearance' On Hiatus

Has First Lady Kim Gun Hee been missing for two months? No, that's not true: She took a two-month hiatus starting in mid-December and has recently resumed behind-the-scenes activities on February 15, 2024.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) on TikTok by @koreanews139 on February 25, 2024. The caption (translated from Korean to English by Lead Stories staff) read:

Kim Gun Hee is missing. What happened after two months of disappearance?

What will happen to Yoon Suk Yeol now. She is nowhere to be found.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

Sisa Journal (archived here) reported on Kim's recent whereabouts on February 19, 2024, following her Dior bag controversy (archived here) in late November 2023 (archived here). The article said some analysts speculate President Yoon Suk Yeol's recent rise in approval ratings enabled Kim to resume her behind-the-scenes activities, considering the negative public sentiment surrounding the luxury bag controversy.

On February 15, 2024, Kim delivered a letter and a fruit basket to the family of the late Lt. Yoo Jae Guk (archived here), who died in the line of duty while searching for a missing person in the Han River.

Additionally, on February 17, 2024, numerous news sources (archived here) covered Yoon's lunch meeting with Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos and actor Lee Jung Jae, which Kim attended.

Yet, the official President's Office website neither incorporated Kim in the documented summary (archived here) nor showcased her in the distributed photos (archived here).
