Fact Check: Jang Yoon-jeong Did NOT Say She Supports Yoon Suk-yeol No Remarks

Did Trot singer Jang Yoon-jeong say she supports Yoon Suk-yeol? No, that's not true: She did not mention Yoon Suk-yeol or any related issue on her social media.

The claim appeared in a video (archived here) published on TikTok on February 20, 2025, under the title "#뉴스 #정치 #윤석열" translated from Korean into English by Lead Stories staff as "#news #politics #YoonSukyeol. It opened:

Jang Yoon-jeong officially stated that she supports president Yoon Suk-yeol.

This is what the post looked like on TikTok at the time of writing:

Jang Yoon-jeong did not release any official statement related to the ongoing impeachment trial of President Yoon Suk-yeol. There was no relevant news on the official website (archived here) of Jang's management company. According to a Google News Index search (archived here) conducted by Lead Stories staff on February 24, 2025, with the keywords 'Jang Yoon-jeong AND Yoon Suk-yeol', no news report from local press media implicates her support.

There was also no related post or video on Jang's Instagram (archived here) and YouTube; these are the only two social media accounts she has.

Jang Yoon-jeong is a famous Trot singer in South Korea. Trot is a South Korean music genre influenced by Japanese Enka and Korean folk music. Since most Trot music listeners are elderly people (archived here) who tend to be relatively more conservative, this claim has been shared among elderly Yoon supporters on various platforms, mainly on TikTok and YouTube (archived here).
